No agreement for Hearts as Reading and Ipswich Town look to move in on attacker

According to a claim in the Italian media, Hearts have failed to come to an agreement to re-sign Genoa attacker Manuel David Milinkovic.

Milinkovic spent last season on loan with Hearts and there’s a possibility Championship sides Reading and Ipswich Town could come in for the 24 year old.

TMW report Hearts wants to bring the winger back to Tynecastle for next season, but it’s looking unlikely he will return to the Scottish Premiership side.

It’s claimed Genoa and Hearts came to an agreement over a permanent transfer, but the contract offered to the player has so far been rejected.

This now opens the door for both Ipswich Town and Reading to sign Milinkovic, with the two clubs credited with interest.

Both Ipswich Town and Reading had disappointing campaigns last season and will be looking to put this right this summer by improving their squads.

Milinkovic played 22 games for Hearts last season, scoring 6 goals and providing 2 assists.

Romelu Lukaku's extraordinary story is an incredible example of hard work and passion – McCarthy

“I remember the exact moment I knew we were broke. I can still picture my mum at the refrigerator and the look on her face.

“I was six years old and I came home for lunch during our break at school.

“My mum had the same thing on the menu every single day: Bread and milk. When you’re a kid, you don’t even think about it. But I guess that’s what we could afford.

“Then this one day I came home, and I walked into the kitchen, and I saw my mum at the refrigerator with the box of milk, like normal. But this time she was mixing something in with it. She was shaking it all up, you know?

“I didn’t understand what was going on. Then she brought my lunch over to me, and she was smiling like everything was cool. But I
realised right away what was going on. She was mixing water in with the milk. We didn’t have enough money to make it last the whole week. We were broke. Not just poor, but broke.”

The words of Romelu Lukaku as he painted a picture of his life in Belgium just 19 years ago.

These days he could fill his bath with champagne if
he wanted to. But Lukaku has never forgotten where he came from and this week he penned a quite extraordinary, and moving, blog that laid bare the circumstances that moulded him into one of the world’s
best strikers.

His physique was
God given. So big and powerful at 11 that he used to carry his passport in his kit bag to show disbelieving parents and coaches of rival teams he wasn’t cheating, which would send “blood rushing through him”.

His ability was natural but there have been millions of powerful, more talented young footballers who never made it.

What drove Lukaku on was pure,

Contract Not Good Enough – Reading and Ipswich Keen As Hearts Struggle To Close Winger Deal

Reading and Ipswich are bidding to take advantage of Hearts failing to agree terms to keep Manuel Milinkovic.

The French winger was on loan at Tynecastle last season from Italian Serie A side Genoa and impressed, with Hearts now wanting to keep him on a permanent basis.

Hearts have reached an agreement with Genoa, but not with Milinkovic.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, the player considers the contract offer put forward by Hearts not to be good enough.

And the winger has options, with two clubs from the English Championship keen to secure his signature.

The duo are Reading and Ipswich, who may be able to present more tempting proposals to Milinkovic than Hearts.

He made 24 appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Hearts last season, scoring six goals and providing five assists for his team-mates.

The winger has a further 12 months to run on his contract with Genoa and the Italian side are open to cashing in this summer.
