Derby County will once again be without influential midfielder Mason Mount this weekend.

Mount has been ruled out of the Rams‘ Sky Bet Championship clash with Aston Villa at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday (3pm) as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.

The 19-year-old missed last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Birmingham City and will not be fit in time to face Villa.

The on-loan Chelsea ace has not been selected in the England senior or under-21 squad for their upcoming games.

However, Frank Lampard hopes to have him available for the trip to Sheffield Wednesday when Derby resume their league campaign after the international break on Saturday, November 24.

“It has come too soon for Mase,” said Lampard. “Not miles too soon but frustratingly too soon for him.

“We have to show we’re a squad that can deal with those sort of things.

“Hopefully, he will be back the other side of the break.”

Mount himself took to Twitter to say: “Working hard to get back to full fitness. Good luck to the boys tomorrow.”

Mount has made 19 appearances for the Rams so far this season, and has scored five goals in all competitions.

He had started every game up until the Birmingham fixture.

Duane Holmes came in for his full debut in Mount’s absence last Saturday.
