Leeds United legend Johnny Giles turned 78 earlier this week, and the club’s supporters were all over social media paying tribute to the former Republic of Ireland international.
Giles started his professional career with Manchester United in 1957, and made 99 league appearances for the Red Devils before joining Leeds in 1963.
To suggest that Giles has a successful time at Leeds would be a slight understatement.
Indeed, the former midfielder made 525 appearances for the Whites, and his list of trophies can be seen in the tweet below.
Giles managed 115 goals for Leeds before leaving for West Bromwich Albion in 1975, and he also turned out for Philadelphia Fury and Shamrock Rovers before hanging up his boots in 1983.
There is absolutely no question that Giles has legendary status at Elland Road, and a number of Leeds fans have been on social media lavishing praise on the now 78-year-old.
