Middlesbrough have mastered the art of defending, counter-attacking and set-pieces, according to Daniel Farke, who insists Norwich must be brave and stick to their own style of play against Pulis’s side.

Boro head for Carrow Road joint top of the Championship with Leeds United, who swept Norwich aside 3-0 when the sides met earlier this season.

Farke, though, says: “Middlesbrough are totally different to Leeds.”

The Norwich boss added: “They are much more focused on defending and focus more on counter-actions and set-pieces.

“Boro choose this and it’s important that you are good at what you choose. They have been successful in that so far.

“They have had five clean sheets and are joint top of the league. Our fixtures have been tough so far and we know it’s a difficult situation. They are so good at defending.

“They are very tall as well, they’d be good at basketball!”

Norwich go into Saturday’s game having won just once so far this season and the Canaries were this week rocked by the news that captain Grant Hanley has been sidelined for six weeks.

Farke says the hosts will be underdogs. But if they are to upset the odds the boss believes they must stick to their guns rather than trying to play Boro at their own game.
