As per one of the latest reports by football.london, West Ham United are perceived to be keen to sign Leeds United’s centre-back, Pontus Jansson, in the summer. The Hammers are expected to bring reinforcements after the end of the ongoing campaign and Jansson seems to be one of the players whom David Moyes is apparently set to target.

Moyes lost Jose Fonte to Chinese outfit, Dalian Yifang, back in February and his back line has shown frailties on plenty of occasions. Besides, the Irons have produced really mediocre performances this season and have collected merely 34 points from 32 games in the Premier League. The London based outfit need to better their credentials next season and in order to do so, they must make a good use of the summer transfer window.

Jansson was signed by the Whites from Torino in the summer transfer window of 2016, initially on loan, which was turned into a permanent deal in the January transfer window of 2017. He was exceptional for Leeds United at the back during the reign of Garry Monk last season but has failed to maintain similar standards this season. Despite that, there is no denying that he has one of the better players for the clubs this term.

The 27-year-old has scored 3 goals in 39 appearances in the Championship this season and apart from that, he has garnered 1.3 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 9.6 clearances and 0.9 blocks per game on an average. He has been the leader at the back, under Thomas Christiansen as well as Paul Heckingbottom and has cemented his place in the Swedish national side.

Leeds United have been in a stuttering form in the English second division this campaign and have withered away in the race for promotion to the Premier League. Thus, they might lose some of their key players in the summer. However, the Peacocks simply cannot afford to strike Jansson off their books as he has acclimatized himself with English football and has been a handy package for Leeds United.
