Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United side are “exciting”, says Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague, but adds that the manager should be held accountable if things do ultimately go wrong.

The Argentine’s arrival at Elland Road has seen a transformative effect on the club with the Whites leading the Championship heading into the final round of fixtures ahead of the November international break.

Respected pundit Balague has heaped praise upon the commitment and performances of United so far this season, though he has admitted that he is concerned as to whether the squad will be able to match the demands of their manager’s rigourous approach over the rest of the campaign.

“I’ve seen them play on TV and what I see is a Bielsa team,” the Spaniard commented in a YouTube Q&A session.

“[They’re] marking, running after the ball, tracking back [with] a lot of effort, and by the way if you don’t give that effort you’re out of the team.

“It’s very modern how it gets put in practise. [But] my fear with Leeds is that if the board understands what’s being done, it will be respected even when things don’t go right.”

Balague also speculated whether Whites players would continue to be effusive in their compliments of Bielsa as the year wears on, wondering if their attitudes would potentially sour.
