West Brom are considering a move for Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson, it’s being claimed in the defender’s native Sweden.

Jansson has been at Leeds for the past two years, arriving initially on loan from Serie A side Torino, and he has impressed during his time at Elland Road.

The towering centre-back did enough in the last campaign to earn a place in Sweden’s World Cup squad, and he played in their victory over South Korea in the group stages but also came off of the bench in their quarter final defeat to England over the weekend.

Now Expressen report that Albion – who are closing in on Jansson’s former centre-back partner Kyle Bartley – are weighing up a move for the defender in order to reunite the pair.

They add that an offer in the region of £10m would be enough to tempt the Whites to part with the Swede.

Jansson, 27, has previously expressed his desire to remain in England if he were to leave Leeds. He currently has four years left to run on his contract in Yorkshire.

With Jonny Evans sold and Gareth McAuley released, Albion are in the market for more competition in the heart of the defence.
