Wolves are flying right now and are just a point away from securing the Championship title in the final games of the season.

The Old Gold saw promotion confirmed over the weekend as Fulham drew with Brentford and they beat Birmingham at Molineux to spark off some great celebrations.

They’re back in the big-time, then, and it looks as though, financially, they’re going to be sitting pretty as well.

Wolves are already well-backed but it is thought that their promotion could rake in around £140 million as per a report in the Express and Star.

Indeed, financial and industry experts are backing such a windfall to be on the way to the Black Country whilst the region as a whole will benefit from the added spotlight being in the top flight brings.

Dr Rob Wilson, expert in football finance at Sheffield Hallam University, said:

“When you go up to the Premier League you put yourselves on the global map and then you can get investment from companies from around the world.”

Things are looking rosy for Wolves, then, as they count the weeks by until 2018/19.

The Verdict

We all know how lucrative being in the Premier League can be and it looks as though Wolves are going to enjoy the fruits of their labour both on and off the field.

They are by no means cash-strapped but this some of money would be welcome at even the likes of Manchester City, so let’s see how well the Old Gold can utilise it.
