According to Spanish outlet AS, Wolves could still seal a deal for Alfred N’Diaye in the summer window if they and Villarreal decide to negotiate.
The midfielder has spent the season on loan from the Spanish top flight side at Molineux but has perhaps not had as much influence as he would have liked.
Indeed, he’s found himself behind Ruben Neves and Romain Saiss for much of the campaign and that has meant that he’s not played enough games to trigger the clause in his loan deal to make things permanent.
However, that does not mean that the Old Gold cannot work on a deal for him if they want, it just means a new figure will have to be reached instead of the touted £7.78m it would have originally cost.
With the few games he’s played, then, if Wolves do want to make things permanent they might just decide to offer a smaller fee.
It’s not been the best season for N’Diaye this year – that is for sure – but he does still have quality and could lend a hand as Wolves look to stay in the top flight.
What kind of fee the two look to strike remains up for debate, however. The midfielder has not played enough games to really warrant a big fee but the Spanish side may feel that that is not really their problem and that they still want to rake a fair bit in.
