Arsenal cruised into the quarter-finals of the Europa League on Thursday evening thanks to a 3-0 victory at home to Rennes – and by the end Alex Iwobi was having a bit of fun.

The Emirates was the venue for the last 16 second-leg tie and despite having plenty to do in the capital, Arsenal overturned their 3-1 deficit from the first leg in France to brush aside the Ligue 1 side.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring after just five minutes before Ainsley Maitland-Niles netted the second for his side just ten minutes later.

Despite some nervous moments in the second period, Aubameyang added his second goal to ensure a 4-3 aggregate win for the Gunners.

But one of the most talked about moments on social media post-match was something just a little odd.

It’s safe to say Iwobi has a great sense of humour and Arsenal fans noticed that a coming together with Rennes’ left-back Hamari Traore resulted in the striker reacting as if the latter man’s breath left a little to be desired.

Fans on social media celebrated the Nigerian’s ‘incredible’ sense of humour with others claiming that Iwobi had ‘decided to become a meme’.
