Jurgen Klopp has hailed the ability of the versatile Fabinho after he helped Liverpool to a 1-0 win over Brighton on Saturday.

The Brazilian has grown superbly well into a midfield role at Liverpool so far this season and has recently shown a wonderful ability to control a game in the centre of the pitch in the position he was brought in to play.

For his national side, however, he occasionally plays at right-back and has secured a regular spot in that position for the Selecao.

At Brighton, Fabinho found himself thrown into the heart of defence alongside Virgil van Dijk after the Reds’ defensive injury woes left the German manager with little other option.

He had only played in the position once before in his career – Monday evening’s defeat Wolves in the FA Cup.

At Molineux, the makeshift defender did well but Saturday posed a different test for the 25-year-old summer signing.

Fabinho was superb at centre-half playing alongside the imperious Van Dijk and was commanding in the air when called upon.

Most impressively of all, the former Monaco man positioned himself to repeatedly thwart counter-attacks and snuff out any danger from shooting positions when Brighton got forward.
