Liverpool’s Champions League hopes are in the balance after they failed to find a way past Bayern Munich in a 0-0 last 16 draw at Anfield.
Despite the promise of another big European night on merseyside – just five days before their cruch League clash at Manchester United – Jurgen Klopp’s stars couldn’t muster a goal against Niko Kovac’s well-organised stars.
The German’s went close with an early effort that flew off Joel Matip and bounced off Alisson’s chest before Sadio Mane missed a great chance soon after.
With Bayern missing Thomas Muller and Jerome Boateng, Liverpool fancied their chances even without suspended star defender Virgil Van Dijk
But despite looking dangerous when they attacked they only created half chances with German international keeper and Bayern skipper Manuel Neuer hardly making a big save all night.

Bayern maybe aren’t as formidable these days but they still proved a tough nut for Liverpool to crack – and the second leg on March 13 will be a nervy night for Klopp and his stars.

Jurgen Klopp enjoyed plenty of big battles against Bayern Munich when the boss at Dortmund.
But a clash which promised so much fell flat at Anfield as the German’s frustrated the Liverpool boss with a performance full of expertise and
