“We’re not English. We’re Scouse!” – Liverpool fans respond to owner by David Gate

Liverpool advanced to the quarter final of the Champions League by beating Bayern Munich and could face Ajax in the next round. It would be the ultimate scouting mission.

The Amsterdam giants, who are playing such great football with such a young squad, have several players who have attracted the Reds’ attention.

Among them is Virgil van Dijk’s national defensive partner Matthijs de Ligt, Moroccan playmaker Hakim Ziyech (who is an assist king) and even Brazilian winger David Neres.

De Ligt has been linked with every major European club under the sun, but started flirting with Liverpool fans when he spoke about how he enjoys playing next to van Dijk. And while some supporters called fake news when a Ziyech to Liverpool transfer rumour appeared, you could imagine this deal happening.

And if the two sides are drawn together, it would give Jurgen Klopp first-hand experience of how the duo go about their football. It might even allow him a few whispers in the ear of de Ligt and Ziyech, or a few clandestine chats about their summer plans with Ajax manager Erik
