Jose Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes has released a rare statement in an attempt to quash suggestions that the Manchester United boss could be on his way out of the club.

Mendes, who also represents the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and a number of other high profile figures in the game, insisted that Mourinho is “very happy” at Old Trafford and is “fully committed” to his job.

“There have been more rumours of Jose Mourinho leaving Manchester United,” Mendes’ statement read.

“It’s totally untrue. Jose is very happy at the club and the club is very happy with him. He has a long-term contract with Manchester United and is fully committed to the club in building a solid winning project.”

United are languishing in seventh place and are winless in four games, eight points off fourth placed Chelsea and 18 behind league leaders Manchester City.

The Red Devils’ most recent result saw them play out a 2-2 draw against Arsenal, a performance which Mourinho felt was an improvement on their other recent league outings.

Mourinho’s position at Old Trafford has been under scrutiny for most of the season, but it seems his job is safe for the time being.
