As reported by tbrfootball.com,
Struggling Newcastle need to bolster their attack in January and they are weighing up a move for AC Milan forward Fabio Borini, according to reports in Italy, via the Sunderland Echo.
The Italian frontman would perhaps be a surprising choice from Rafa Benitez, given his previous connections with Newcastle’s bitter rivals Sunderland.
The report states that Borini has struggled for gametime at the San Siro and the Italian giants would not rule out the prospect of selling him in January if the right offer were to come in.
It’s not clear how much Milan would want for the former Black Cats frontman, but perhaps the supporters would be more receptive to signing a former rival if it was a shrewd, cut-price move.
Borini became something of a figure of fun during his time at Sunderland, and did not find the net on a regular basis.
But during the early part of his career, at Swansea and Liverpool, he showed that he can be a useful weapon, with his smart movement and versatility.
He would not be the prolific frontman that Newcastle need, but he could add slightly more flair and that would be bad news for Ayoze Perez.
In this Newcastle side, it seems unlikely Benitez will indulge two flighty playmakers and if Borini comes in next month, Perez can expect it to impact his gametime.
