Jack Wilshere insists new West Ham signing and former Arsenal teammate Samir Nasri has a point to prove following his move to the Hammers.
Nasri became the latest player with a connection to the Gunners to move to the London Stadium, with Wilshere having also taken the well-trodden path from the Emirates to London Stadium in the summer.
The Frenchman completed a free transfer to the Hammers at the start of the January transfer window and Wilshere believes he can make an impact for Manuel Pellegrini’s side in the second half of the season.
“He’s got so much quality, he can make something happen from nothing,” he said while appearing as a pundit on Sky Sports ahead of the game.
“I remember people were doubting him the season before and he had a point to prove so I think he’s in a similar position where he’s been out of the game for a while and he’s come back to the Premier League.
“He wants to prove to everyone that he can still do it.”
Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to reunite with his former Manchester City player has led to a few raised eyebrows given Nasri’s extended period out of the game and Jamie Redknapp believes the 31-year-old won’t be able to believe his luck at earning another shot in the Premier League.
