Neil Lennon has hinted at a potential Celtic return for John Park, an immensely popular figure for his role as chief scout during the interim manager’s first spell in charge.
Current Head of Recruitment Lee Congerton’s future at Celtic Park is under mass speculation and a departure would open the door for the former chief scout to return.
Earlier this week in his press conference, Lennon praised Park’s past contribution but insisted he’s still working with Congerton as usual.
He did alright. He didn’t do badly. Lee is here, I’m working with Lee and it’s business as usual. I know there’s a lot of speculation surrounding Lee. We had a meeting 10 days ago, and he was full on. It’s a case of maybe watching this space. If he does move on I’m sure there will be a lot of candidates the club have in mind to take over.
Park and Lennon worked very closely for a number of successful years between 2010-2014 and he provided the boss with some very notable signings.
During Park’s tenure as chief scout, the Hoops signed the likes of Fraser Forster, Victor Wanyama, Moussa Dembele and none other than the current favourite for the Premier League Player of the Year award, Virgil van Dijk.
It’d be excited to see Park return, whether that be before, during or after the summer transfer window.
