Target: Rangers are tracking Mohamaddi. PA

Steven Gerrard hasn’t been slow in adding to his Rangers squad but his summer shopping isn’t done yet.

The new Ibrox boss said on Wednesday that he would keep looking for new signings until he was happy with his squad and it looks like a left-back may be on his mind. Rangers have been linked with Iranian defender Milad Mohammadi, who caught the eye representing his nation at the World Cup.

Celtic have seen a second bid for John McGinn rebuffed by Hibs and now appear to be relaxed and prepared to long game. The midfielder has just a year left on his contract, and is keen to move to Celtic Park, but may have to wait to make the switch.

Aberdeen have said that they consider Danny Rogers to be their “future number one” but have sent the goalkeeper out on loan for a fourth time. The 24-year-old has moved to newly-promoted St Mirren where he’ll get to test himself in the Premiership for the first time.

Elsewhere, Dundee are considering handing a deal to a goal-scoring trialist, Hearts are allowing Austin McPhee to explore a move to India and West Ham’s interest in Yaya Toure appears to be over. That’ll prompt some fresh rumours about a move north, no doubt.
