Zak Rudden took just a matter of hours to show why Falkirk boss Ray McKinnon was so determined to extend his loan deal from Rangers as he struck a crucial leveller against Partick Thistle.

The 18-year-old returned to the Falkirk Stadium earlier today after spending the first half of the season with the Bairns.

And his 76th minute goal – his ninth of the season – secured a crucial draw for Falkirk to keep them a point above the Championship‘s bottom side Thistle at Firhill.

Blair Spittal had fired the Jags ahead in the 61st minute but Gary Harkins’ red card after 74 left Gary Caldwell’s side in trouble and two minutes later Rudden headed home.

Europe’s most prolific goalscorer Stephen Dobbie took his tally for the season to an incredible 32 in 27 games as he helped Queen of the South cut down leaders Ross County in Dumfries.

Dobbie hit a double as Queens – who beat Inverness thanks to the veteran striker’s winner a week ago – completed a Highland double by thumping County 4-0.

The Staggies were hoping to pick up after last week’s defeat to Morton. But they were brushed aside with ease by the free-flowing Dumfries side.

Dobbie opened the scoring in the 12th minute and sealed the victory with a clinical finish 13 minutes from time.

In between Michael Doyle and Motherwell loanee Barry Maguire netted as Gary Naysmith’s side ran amok.
